FontForge is a free software that allows you to create your own font then saving it to your font book or files.
Today we have been introduced to a guest lecturer Dave Crossland; he specializes in typography. We have been experimenting with letter forms, serifs, strokes, outlines and shading to see how each effect would conclude the final outcome of the presented letter/words.
*Before downloading FontForge i had to download XQuartz a software that will enable it to run on a mac OS X 10.6
Using FontForge is almost like using Adobe illustrator or Photoshop's pen tool to create letters, clicking on the points can either adjust to straighter to curve, there is no colors to choose from whilst creating letters/number but by holding down the '`' (next to the z) key the letter form will be filled to help you visualize how it would look like in a document or when in use.
To save your font you must name it then generate it and save it in your documents, once it is saved you can transfer it to the font book and it will be ready to use.
